What is Signal Lock?
Signal Lock is an independent practice that measures what AI assistants say about businesses. It was founded in 2026 and is run by one person from Zürich - me 😄
What it measures. Whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity name a business when a customer asks the kind of question customers actually ask. What they say about it when they do. Whether that is true. And how the answers differ when an assistant searches the web and when it answers from memory.
How. A purpose-built instrument puts realistic customer questions to the four assistants, many times over, in both modes, and records every answer. Reports are written in plain English. Every figure in a report can be traced back to a recorded answer. Numbers are given in whole points, because the method's own noise floor does not justify decimals.
What it does not do. It does not sell search engine optimisation packages. It does not build websites or write content. It does not resell data from third-party dashboards. Measurement and remediation are kept apart and priced separately, so the person measuring is never marking their own homework. When a report recommends changes, any competent web provider can make them.
Who it is for. Any business whose customers ask for recommendations before they buy, from independent owner-operators to firms in regulated markets.
The name. A business transmits all the time: website, listings, reviews, prices. The assistants are the receivers. Signal lock is the moment a receiver stops drifting and holds the transmission. The practice measures whether that has happened, or whether the receiver is holding a signal that stopped years ago.
