Four AI assistants still recommend a wedding venue that closed in 2024

Tracy Park, near Bath, ceased trading on 30 September 2024. The estate was sold, and its own website states that golf, wedding and event services are closed. The new owner has applied to return it to private use.

In July 2026 I asked four AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity) more than a thousand questions a real customer might ask about venues around Bristol and Bath. Where to hold a wedding. Where a golf society of 24 should book. Where to run a company away day. Tracy Park was recommended in 98 separate answers, by every one of the four assistants. It appeared 33 times in answers to questions that named no venue at all.

Nearly two years after closing, it is still winning recommendations.

If you run a business that is very much open, this matters for two reasons.

First, some of your customers now put these questions to an AI assistant before they ever reach a search engine. Every answer that recommends a business that no longer exists is an answer that did not recommend one that does.

Second, nobody corrects this on the assistants' behalf. What they say about you today comes from pages other people wrote some time ago and left as they were. If those pages are thin, or wrong, the answers are too.
